I remember that when I applied for a program called "global housing" at York University Residences, they specifically asked the difference between a "multicultural experience" and an "international experience". The key difference, I later realized, is that multiculturalism only provides an environment for different cultures to co-exist; while the later actually share, teach and integrate different cultural groups together. Perhaps it would be a good experiment to organize some events where different cultural groups can come together and teah each other their own unique beliefs, customs, and, of course, FOOD!
